Our Curriculum
School Vision
The staff and governors will work together with parents and the wider community towards the School’s Vision, which is for:
‘Every child to make the best possible progress’
Intent
At Baddow Hall Infant School the aim of our school curriculum is to develop children into lifelong learners, who are curious, resilient and creative. Every child is recognised as a unique individual and our inspiring curriculum challenges each child to meet their full potential. Children leave our school as confident learners with the building blocks needed for the next stage of their education.
At Baddow Hall Infant School we:
Reading
At Baddow Hall Infant School we teach the children to read through our daily phonics lessons, using the Letters and Sounds programme. The children have access to fully and part decodable books to support their phonics teaching, as well as a wide range of other books in their classroom reading corners. High frequency words, which cannot always be decoded or sounded out, are also practised in daily phonics sessions and lists are sent home for additional practice.
We strongly encourage parents to read regularly with their children in order to support them in developing their reading skills, so that they become lifelong enthusiastic readers. The comments made by parents in children's reading diaries provide teachers with valuable information about children's reading at home.
Through our Every Child Reads Scheme children will be have motivated to read at home giving them the opportunity to reach the following awards: bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond and titanium.
